Aside from the torsion springs there are some other very important parts located above your garage door. The torsion system consists of the torsion tube, end bearing plates, drums, center bracket, center bearing and cables. We inspect all of these components for ware and proper installation. A quick check you can do on your own at home is to make sure the torsion tube above the garage door is perfectly straight. In the field we see them installed incorrectly quite a bit. Improper installation can lead to premature ware of your end bearings and become a serious safety issue. Most of the time there is a plastic bushing located between the torsion springs. We replace the bushing with a steel bearing at no extra charge during the replacement of any torsion spring. Torsion cables are always inspected for any signs of wear on any door we touch. Failure to inspect cables can result in what we call a “crashed door” if you have ever seen a garage door sideways in its track, chances are it was a result of broken or failed cables.
